Description

Life in an urban city is very comforting - we have the convenience of facilities that aide our daily routines. But even when we often feel it, we tend to overlook the duality of this life - a life that has us do plenty but that which gets hardly anything done. In this Improv show, we will look at the various facets of an urban dwellers life from relationships, work and the stories that line in between.

We are also very excited to have two amazing improvisers join us in this performance - Rebecca and Rich Sohn. Both of them come from Second City in the US.

About Rebecca Sohn

Rebecca Sohn has been an Improviser for 31 years. She spent 25 of those years in Chicago where she is an alum of Second City, Annoyance and iO. Some favorite groups she’s performed with include Screw Puppies, The Armando Diaz Theatrical Experience and Hootenanny, GrabAss, TNT, Almost ATLANTa, Virgin Daiquiri, and Switchboard. She has improvised and taught at festivals in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Austin, Toronto, London, Paris and more. After 24 years of teaching improv for Annoyance, SC, iO and independently, she has become a highly sought after veteran with a reputation for creating a safe environment that nurtures risk. Her ability to be gentle and direct enables performers to take bigger risks and make bigger discoveries.

She and her husband, Rich Sohn improvise and collaborate in many ways. They’ve been improvising together for 27 years. They wrote and toured “Idiot Tango”, their duo sketch show, he has directed all 3 of her solo shows including “My Solo Show of All Duets” which recently played to packed houses in LA.

She directs sketch for stage and screen, notably one of the most popular SC Networks series to date, ‘Chai Chat’

About Rich Sohn

Rich Sohn has spent 28 years as a Chicago improviser. He is an alumnus of The Second City, iO (formerly ImprovOlympic) and Annoyance Theater. Some favorite shows and groups he’s performed with include: Screw Puppies, The Pat Shay Dancers, Grabass: A Carnival of Dummy, Willie Nelson Slept Here, Crab AtlaNta, Bad Touch and TNT. In Chicago, Rich also directed and taught improvisation for The Second City, iO, CIF, and for The Annoyance Theater where he was a resident director and long-time faculty member in the core and intensive programs. He has traveled to teach throughout the US and in the UK, often with his wife, the gifted teacher and performer Rebecca Sohn.

Recently the Sohns has relocated to Los Angeles where Rich is now affiliated with The Pack Theater. Rich teaches the Advanced Improv level at The Pack as well as a level in the core program. He also directs improv ensembles at The Pack and performs every week in the show Dingleberries.

Rich’s teaching style has been described as encouraging, honest and practical. He strives to give students tangible approaches to help students gain confidence and take risks.
